At the same time, players like Karun Nair, who have flopped in four consecutive innings, are again getting a place in the final XI. This selection policy is under question.
Delhi: The third match of the five matches of India and England is being played at Lord’s ground in London. As expected, only one change has been made in Team India’s playing XI. Due to poor performance, star fast bowler Famous Krishna has been excluded and veteran Pesar Jaspreet Bumrah has returned to the final XI. But, apart from this decision, many discussions are in full swing about team selection. Let’s discuss about it:
Batsman Abhimanyu Ishwar, who scored a series of runs in first class cricket, is still waiting for a Test debut. He was also part of the team during the series against Australia, but did not get a chance to play a single match. At the same time, players like Karun Nair, who have flopped in four consecutive innings, are again getting a place in the final XI. This selection policy is under question.
Karun Nair has returned to Team India after almost eight years, but his return has been very disappointing so far. He has neither been able to score a half -century nor has been able to cross the 35 -run mark. Recall that in 2017 he definitely scored a triple century against England, but after that his performance continued to fall. Despite this, captain Shubman Gill is constantly giving him a chance, due to which fingers are being raised on the selection process. It is also true that he has returned to the Indian team after many years. Nair played a historic innings of 303 not out in the Chennai Test against England in 2016, after which he has now got a chance in the Test team. His performance (0, 20, 31 and 26 runs) has disappointed in the first two Tests.
Abhimanyu Ishwaran’s first class cricket figures are no less than any Test player. He has scored 7841 runs in 103 matches. During this time, his average is 48.70, as well as 27 centuries and 31 half -centuries. Despite being such a strong figure, he has not been able to get a chance to debut till now.
Now the question arises whether Abhimanyu will get a chance in the remaining two Tests of the series or will he have to return with the team once again? The priorities of the selectors and the captain should now have serious views, so that justice can be done with talent.
