Virat Kohli recently spoke about his Test retirement, which shocked everyone in the world. He was expected to travel with the team for the England tour but bid adieu just days before the announcement of the squad. He attended a charity event hosted by former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh’s foundation, YouWeCan. The current Indian team and former players Sachin Tendulkar, Ravi Shastri, Ashish Nehra, Brian Lara, Kevin Pietersen, and Chris Gayle were also present.

Gaurav Kapoor, the host of the show, invited Virat Kohli on the stage and managed to get a reaction from the legendary batter on his retirement.

“I coloured my beard two days ago. You know your days are over when you start colouring your beard every four days,” Kohli said.

Virat once again thanked Shastri for helping him to become the cricketer he always wanted to be.

“I wouldn’t have been able to achieve success if I had not worked with him. The two of us were always clear in our minds. If he hadn’t backed me the way he did and taken those bullets for me in those press conferences, things would have been different. I have respect and regard for him for helping me and being a part of my cricketing journey,” he added.

Virat recalled his early days in the Indian dressing room, where he met the likes of Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, and Zaheer Khan. “When I started playing for India, Bhajju Pa and Zaheer Khan took me under their wings. It helped me to grow as a player. Watching Yuvraj Singh in the World Cup was special and his cancer diagnosis was shocking. Despite being close to him, we had no idea. Then his battle with cancer and coming back to the Indian National Cricket Team I was leading was inspiring,” he mentioned.
