He said, “I still remember that KKR's pre-season camp was going on. During that time Sanju Samson came to bat and there was no bowler to bowl and that is why I myself decided to bowl to 16 year old Sanju Samson. Maybe it was the year 2010 or 2011, when Kolkata had a black kit.”
Akram further said that “Sanju came to bat and he was very shy, used to remain silent. However, his wicketkeeping ability was very good. I took the ball and said that Sanju, you may keep this and remember it in future too. I bowled him two outswingers and then bowled an inswinger, which uprooted all three of his stumps. The former fast bowler further said that he did not get much opportunity at that time but I felt that he could become a big player in the future.
The former Pakistani player said, “At that time he was a small child and had the potential to become a good player in the future. When big names are around you, you feel a little pressure and it was the same with him but I knew that he could become a big player in the future.”
