However, some people believe that Rishabh Pant would be the first choice for this role, but former Indian batsman Mohammad Kaif has a different opinion.
Actually, Pant is in excellent form so far in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 and has scored runs with a strike rate of more than 150. However, he has failed to play any match winning innings. Apart from this, he has scored many half-centuries but has not been able to convert them into big scores. Kaif has expressed concern about this and he believes that other wicketkeepers are ahead of him. During the discussion on Star Sports, the former veteran player has given a big statement.

He said, “The biggest problem for Rishabh Pant has been his strike rate. In international matches, he has scored runs with a strike rate of less than 130. He needs to work on it but he has played well this season of IPL and he needs to make big scores with the bat. He will have to play some of the innings which Yashasvi Jaiswal played against Mumbai Indians. If he wants to make his place in the World Cup team, he will have to play brilliantly.”
If we talk about IPL 2024, then this season the Delhi team has failed to perform well under his captaincy. The team has played 8 matches so far and has won only 3. However, after staying away from cricket for almost one and a half years due to a horrific car accident, the left-handed batsman has made a spectacular comeback.
