Mohammed Siraj made a significant impact in the first innings against England in the second Test at Edgbaston, Birmingham, on Friday, 4th July, taking 6 wickets for 70 runs.
After taking the wicket of Zak Crawley (19) late on Day 2, Siraj followed up with five additional scalps on Day 3, giving India a strong advantage.England resumed their second innings at 77-3. Siraj dismissed Joe Root (22) and Ben Stokes (0) in back-to-back balls, reducing England to a vulnerable 84-5. After a resilient 303-run partnership between Harry Brook (158) and Jamie Smith (184*), Siraj returned to clean up the tail, claiming the last three wickets to bowl out England for 407.
By claiming his six-wicket haul, Siraj joined Jasprit Bumrah as the second Indian bowler to take five or more wickets in an innings in Test matches across England, Australia, South Africa, and the West Indies.
