2000 runs in 40 innings: yashasvi jaiswal joins rahul dravid, virender sehwag in record list

Yashasvi Jaiswal achieved a big record in India’s second innings of the second Test against England. He became the joint fastest to complete 2000 runs in red-ball cricket. The southpaw was looking in good touch before Josh Tongue dismissed him. He managed 28 runs off 22 balls, including 6 boundaries. He added 51 runs with KL Rahul for the first wicket in 7.4 overs.

Jaiswal reached the milestone in 40 innings and joined Rahul Dravid and Virender Sehwag. The two legendary cricketers also took 40 innings to script a new landmark.

Jaiswal accumulated 81 runs in the first innings and played a role in India’s total of 587 runs. He also scored a hundred in the first innings of the series opener in Leeds. However, England defeated India by 5 wickets to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

Meanwhile, Shubman Gill scored 269 runs for the sub-continent team. In reply, England posted 407 runs, with Jamie Smith (184*) and Harry Brook (158). Mohammed Siraj took six wickets and Akash Deep added four scalps to his bowling figures.
