Lucknow. The first session of the second day of the five -match Test series being played between India and England in Edgbaston was named after the Indian batsmen. By lunch, Team India have scored 419 runs in 110 overs at the loss of 6 wickets. Captain Shubman Gill and Ravindra Jadeja played the most important role in strengthening the Indian innings, who shared a brilliant partnership of 203 runs for the sixth wicket.

Even though India lost one wicket in the morning session, the team’s score continued continuously with the firm batsmen. Ravindra Jadeja, who is known for his restrained and reliable batting, scored 89 runs in 137 balls with the help of 10 fours and a six. He was sent to the pavilion by England fast bowler Josh Tung. Jadeja’s innings came when the team needed stability.

On the other hand, captain Shubman Gill performed his class and patience and completed 150 runs in 263 balls. This is the first 150+ score of his Test career and he has become only the second captain of India to do so. Earlier in 1990, Mohammad Azharuddin scored 179 runs against England in Old Trafford.

Gill is currently on the crease and all -rounder Washington Sundar is also holding the front. Both players will try to take the innings further after lunch.

Significantly, India is leading 1-0 in this series and would like to make a strong score in this match to strengthen the series.
