Yashasvi Jaiswal likes to play against England, and the southpaw has been scoring runs in the red-ball format. He had amassed over 700 runs in a four-match series against the English team at home, and now he is showing his class in England.

After scoring a hundred in the first innings of the series opener in Leeds, he posted 87 runs in the second game. He faced 107 balls and hit 13 boundaries in his impressive knock.

“It was a good innings by Yashasvi Jaiswal. He was not comfortable at the start but gained confidence. He batted beautifully at the stroke of lunch but didn’t get much of a strike rate after that. He was looking to get to his hundred as quickly as possible,” Cheteshwar Pujara said.

In the previous tour of Australia, his first, Jaiswal scored over 350 runs and was the team’s highest run-getter.

Jaiswal has accumulated 1990 runs in 39 Test innings so far in his career. He is averaging 53.78, with the help of 5 hundreds and 11 fifties.

Meanwhile, captain Shubman Gill struck a hundred, his second of the ongoing series. He has added 100-plus runs with all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja.
