The 47 -year -old Flintoff said during a conversation in a podcast ‘Stick to Cricket’, “It is not a position that I am looking at. Baij McCullum is an incredible coach. Perhaps the best coach of England’s best coach. The culture that he has created within the team is amazing. It is the same as Gaerath Southgate in football.”
Delhi: Former England cricket team captain Andrew Flintoff has rejected the speculation of England becoming the next head coach in place of Brendon McCullum. Flintoff has made it clear that he is completely satisfied with his current role.
The 47 -year -old Flintoff said during a conversation in a podcast ‘Stick to Cricket’, “This is not a position that I am looking at. Baij McCullum is an incredible coach. Perhaps the best coach of England’s best coach. The culture that he has created within the team is amazing. It is the same as Gaerath Southgate in football.
Significantly, Flintoff has made a successful comeback in cricket coaching after the serious car accident during the shooting of the BBC’s ‘Top Gear’ program. He suffered serious injuries in his face and ribs in this accident. Since the comeback, he has done remarkable work with England Lions and Northern Supervisors. Especially in The Handrade, where he last prepared the last place team for better performance.
Flintoff also mentioned his strong relationship with England Cricket Managing Director Rob and the current head coach Brendon McCullum. He said, “I am very happy to work with Kiji (Rob’s). He is one of my best friends and he has helped many fronts in my life. My relationship with Badge (McCullum) is also fantastic and we respect each other.”
It is worth noting that Flintoff’s coaching journey started in September 2023, when he started working as an assistant to Matthew Mot, head coach of the white ball team. However, he was not with the team in the World Cup in India in the same year. He recently coached two informal Test matches against England Lions’ Australian tour and India A.
