Zimbabwe will host Sri Lanka for two ODIs and three T20Is all to be played at the Harare Sports Club. The series forms part of a busy period for Zimbabwe as they are set to play a T20I tri-series against South Africa and Zimbabwe.
They will be also playing a two match test series in South Africa tour of Zimbabwe in Bulawayo starting this week end.
The fixtures against Sri Lanka precedes the T20 World Cup Regional Qualifiers which will be hosted in Zimbabwe from Septemeber 19 to October 24.
Zimbabwe failed to qualify for the main event in previous edition but participated in the 2022 edition. Meanwhile Sri Lanka is set to travel to Zimbabwe in 2023, for the ODI World Cup Qualifiers, but have not played a bilateral series in Zimbabwe since 2016. They are currently hosing Bangladesh on a all-format tour.
“We are delighted to confirm Sri Lanka’s visit to Zimbabwe for what we expect to be a thrilling and competitive series,” said Givemore Makoni, the Managing Director of Zimbabwe Cricket.
“Matches between our two nations have always produced entertaining cricket and this tour comes at a crucial time for our team as we prepare for the upcoming T20 World Cup qualifying campaign” Makoni added.
The tour begins with ODI leg with the first and second ODIs match will be played on August 29 and 31 while the T20I series will begin on September 03. The second and the third T20I will be played on Septemebr 06 and 07 with all games to be played at Harare.
