India’s wk-batter Rishabh Pant has moved from eighth to seventh in the recently updated ICC Men’s Test batter rankings after his sensational twin centuries in the first test of the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy 2025.
India suffered a defeat in the first test of India’s tour of England 2025, where the Men in Blues struggled to pick wickets on the final day of the Headingley Test.
Despite the presence of Jasprit Bumrah, India failed to capitalise on the test in Leeds. However, several factors will be looked at from the experts’ point of view as the series proceeds further.
The wk-batter Rishabh Pant was brilliant for Team India in the first test scoring 134 runs in the first innings and following it up by adding 118 runs in the second innings of the game.
He brilliance left the spectators as he found form in the longest format. Following his brilliant performance, Rishabh Pant made some progress in the Men’s ICC Test rankings. He moved to seventh spot and secured 801 rating points to his name.
Speaking of the recently concluded clash between England and India, India made a formidable total in the innings to which England responded with 465 runs.
In the second innings, India went on to score 364 and setting up a target of 371 runs. England chased down the target in the final day of the test.
Backing their bowling attack to finish the job for them, and India did not have answers for Ben Duckett’s knock. With Crawley amassed 65 runs in 126 deliveries, Duckett went on to play a brilliant knock, scoring 149 runs in 170 deliveries.
Joe Root went unbeaten on a score of 53 runs alongside Jamie Smith who scored 44 runs. England chased down the target in 82 overs, winning the game by five wickets and taking early advantage in the series.
Yashasvi Jaiswal is the only other Indian batter in the top ten, with the southpaw claiming the number four spot.
Meanwhile, Joe Root remains at the top, followed by his colleague Harry Brook and former New Zealand captain Kane Williamson.
Meanwhile, Jasprit Bumrah maintained his top spot in the ICC Test bowlers rankings. Meanwhile Kagiso Rabada is in the second position with Pat Cummins maintained his position in third place.
England captain Ben Stokes made some significant gains and has moved up the 5th place in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings. Ravindra Jadaja continues to be top all-rounder in Test cricket.
