Delhi: In the first Test match played at Leeds’s Headingley ground, England defeated India by 5 wickets to register a tremendous victory. Indian cricket fans are very disappointed with this defeat. He said that Team India should have bowled aggressively with defensive field. Also, the bouncer should have been used more. Pathan tweeted that one of the 5 bouncers got a chance, so more bouncers were needed. He indicated that if the team would have accepted his words beforehand, then perhaps the result of the match would have been different.

Great batting in first innings but weak ending

The Indian team won the toss and scored 471 runs in the first innings, batting first. In this innings, three batsmen scored a century and brought the team to a strong position. India looked quite strong with 3 wickets for 430 runs at one time, but after that the remaining 7 wickets fell in just 41 runs. Due to this, the team lost the opportunity to score another big score.

England’s first innings and counter attack

England also scored 465 runs in the first innings, giving a strong reply. Ben Docket scored an important innings of 62 runs, Oli Pope scored a brilliant century and Harry Brook unfortunately missed a century by scoring 99 runs. England almost finished India’s lead and scored an equal score, which made the match more interesting.

India’s second innings and then the same mistake

India scored 364 runs in the second innings and gave England a target of 371 runs. In this innings too, the start was good and the team reached the score of 287/3 and then 333/4. But after this, the batsmen declined once again and the team could not take advantage of the strong position. This was another chance, which India lost by their hands.

The England team batted amazing to chase the target. Ben Docket scored 149 runs in the second innings as well. His innings became the foundation of England’s victory. The rest of the batsmen also supported well and England achieved the target of 371 runs by losing just 5 wickets. This is the second largest run chase in England’s Test history against India. Ben Docket was adjudged Player of the Match for his tremendous batting.
