Bangladesh Test captain Nazmul Hossain Shanto has achieved a historic milestone during the ongoing Test match against Sri Lanka in Galle.

While the match appears to be heading towards a draw, Shanto’s individual brilliance has earned him a place in the record books with a feat never before accomplished in Bangladesh cricket.

The left-handed batter was in top form throughout the match. In the first innings, he scored a brilliant 148 off 279 balls, including 15 boundaries and a six. In the second innings, he remained unbeaten on 125 from 199 deliveries, laced with 9 fours and 3 sixes — a masterclass in patience and control.

Despite Shanto’s heroics, the Galle Test looks likely to end in a draw. Bangladesh piled up 495 runs in their first innings, to which Sri Lanka responded with 485, keeping the game finely balanced.
