New Delhi, 19 June (Read). Hampshire County Cricket Club has confirmed the agreement with Indian young batsman Tilak Verma. Tilak will join the team for red-ball cricket and will be available for selection in the next four matches of the county championship. His first match will be against Essex from 22 to 25 June in Chelmsford.

Tilak Verma, who has played 29 international matches for the Indian team, has so far scored 749 runs in 25 T20 international matches. This includes two centuries, which came in innings continuously against South Africa in November 2024. Apart from this, he has also scored three half -centuries, including 72* runs played against England at the beginning of the year.

Tilak, who was famous for his performance in T20 and especially the Indian Premier League, made his small format debut in 2019. In 2022, Mumbai Indians included him in his team and since then he has scored around 1500 runs in 54 matches for the franchise. Their average is 37.47 and the strike rate is 144.41. As of June 2025, Tilak Verma is at the top with the highest average (49.93) of the batsmen of any full member country in T20 International.

Hampshire’s cricket director Ziles White said in a statement, “We are very excited to find a talented player like Tilak in the team for the next four matches.” He has proved his ability to the international platform and the Indian Premier League, and now we are eager to see him playing for Hampshire.

Tilak Verma’s record has also been impressive in red-ball cricket. He has played 18 first-class matches so far, including the Duleep Trophy for India A and two matches against England Lions. He has scored more than 1200 runs at an average of 50.16, including five centuries and four half -centuries.

Hampshire is currently ranked seventh in the County Championship Division One. In the last season, the club won its best after 2005 and secured the runner -up place.

Tilak Verma’s first attendance at the home ground will be against Warsestersire from 29 June to 2 July.
