Miami, 19 June (Read). Real Madrid had to be content with a 1-1 draw against Saudi Arabia’s team Al Hilal at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 due to Federico Walverde missing a penalty at injury time. The match was played on Wednesday at Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium, with a huge crowd of 62,415 viewers.

This was a new era for Real Madrid, as this was the first official match of the new manager of the club, Jabi Alonso, but the beginning was not as expected. At the same time, Italy’s coach Simone Inzagi, who is holding the command of Al Hilal for the first time, got the team a brilliant performance in his debut match.

Al Hilal started the match in an aggressive manner and in the 19th minute, Marcos Leonardo’s shot went out at Salem Aldosari’s volley. Renan Lodi also bowled in the net, but that effort was called offside.

Real slowly returned to the match and in the 31st minute Rodrigo’s shot went over the bar. Finally, Real gained in the 34th minute when Gonzalo, who was playing in place of non -existent Killian Embappe, scored a good finish on Rodrigo’s cross during a brilliant counter attack.

However, Al Hilal did not lose courage and in the 41st minute, the penalty received by Raul Assansio on Marcos Leonardo was easily converted into a goal by Ruben Nevece of Portugal and scored 1–1.

Real started fast in the second half. After the brake, Ardh Guller landed a volley on the cross of Vinusius Junior which collided with the bar. After this, Gonzalo’s header was stopped in a brilliant way by goalkeeper Yasin Bonu.

Real once again got a chance in the last moments of the match when Mohammad Al Qahtani covered his face with his hand and the referee gave a penalty. But Federico Walverde’s shot Bonu stopped with a dive and Al Hilal won a valuable point.

With this performance, Al Hilal showed that he is capable of challenging any big club, while the result will be a warning for Real Madrid that the need for improvement is still pending.
