Chennai, 18 June (Read). A total of four matches were played in the women’s and men’s category on the first day in the First Hockey India Masters Cup 2025, which started in Chennai, where hockey Karnataka, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu and Hockey Punjab registered a stunning victory. At the same time, hockey Maharashtra in the women’s category won a 5-0 victory against Hockey Himachal.

Karnataka created history, Sneha’s hat-trick won a big 7-0 win

In the first match of the women’s category, Hockey Karnataka trampled Kerala Hockey 7-0. In this match, Sneha C (15 ‘, 17’, 50 ‘) set the first hat -trick of the tournament and gave the team a strong start. Captain K.K. Kritik (42 ‘, 55’) scored two goals, while Usha Vinayakumar (22 ‘) and Josephine Lore Systera (50’) also scored one by one.

Maharashtra gets a walkover

In the second women’s match, hockey Maharashtra received an official walkover against Hockey Himachal, under which she was declared a 5–0 winner.

Punjab defeated Le Puducherry in a thrilling match

Punjab won 3–2 in the exciting match played between hockey Punjab and Le Puducherry hockey in the men’s category. Pawaninder Singh (15 ‘), Dharampal Singh (36’) and captain Ripudaman Kumar (42 ‘) scored goals from Punjab. At the same time, Dilhiganesh (21 ‘) and N. Kamalakannan (47 ‘) tried to return, but the team could not postpone the defeat.

Tamil Nadu crushed Kerala 8-0

In the final match of the day, Hockey Unit of Tamil Nadu defeated Kerala Hockey 8–0. Ramdas V (14 ‘, 44’) scored two goals and the remaining six goals Sudrashan S (28 ‘), Thmarkannan (32’), Captain Adam Antony Sinklear (34 ‘), Vinod Kumar AP (35’), Sedric Marsalin D Cruz (40 ‘) and Satish Kumar (43’).
