Chennai: Legend Sachin Tendulkar is considered to be the epitome of batsmanship and records prove that. He is considered to be the greatest to have ever held a bat. And as he turns 50 today, former India opener Navjot Singh Sidhu admitted that he sees shades of the legend in CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad. The CSK captain has been in stellar form this season. Gaikwad registered a century against Lucknow on Tuesday night in Chennai. Gaikwad is currently second in the Orange Cap race just behind Virat Kohli.

“The way Gaikwad plays his shots reminds me of Sachin Tendulkar. He is a special talent who will become a big name in the near future,” Sidhu said this on Star Sports as quoted by Crictoday.

“Tough pill to swallow, but good game of cricket. LSG played really well in the back end. We had the game in control till 13-14 overs, but Stoinis played a great innings. (On dew) It played a part, there was a huge amount of dew and it took our spinners out of the game. We could have otherwise controlled the game better and taken it deeper. But these are parts of the game, can’t control it. Jaddu is batting at number 4 since we lost the second wicket within the powerplay,” Gaikwad said at the post-match presentation following the heartbreaking loss.
