Fast bowler Sean Abbott has been called up to the Australia squad for the West Indies tests, which marks Australia’s new Test Championship cycle.

The 33-year-old will be replacing Brendan Doggett, who has been ruled out with a minor hip injury. Doggett was a travelling reserve for the World Test Championship Final and will now return to Australia.

The Australia tour of West Indies 2025 comprises three tests and five T20Is starting on June 25. Abbott has been part of Australia’s pace attack in the limited-overs format while remaining uncapped at Test level, though he has been around the red-ball group which toured Sri Lanka earlier this year, and on home soil during the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Meanwhile, Smith‘s availability remains uncertain with his litter finger dislocations he suffered on the third day of the WTC 2025 finals at Lord’s.

Desite the blow, Smith avoided a surgery and likely to play with it as part of his recovery.

“It just split the skin and dislocated it, which made me feel pretty ill at that stage,” Smith said after the defeat to South Africa.”

“I think (I’m) in a splint for eight weeks now and may be able to play with it in a couple of weeks, so it’ll depend on my functionality and what I’m able to do, but it’s probably the best result I could have hoped for.”
