Dale Steyn, the South African cricketing legend, has forecasted that England will edge past India 3-2 in the upcoming five-match Tendulkar-Anderson Trophy, which kicks off at Headingley on June 20. Steyn anticipates that all the matches will be fiercely contested, with no draws expected.

India, now under the leadership of the promising Shubman Gill, has touched down in Leeds, gearing up for a formidable task. Without the presence of stalwarts like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohlithe team is placing trust in its younger players. England, on the other hand, are more settled under the guidance of Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum, though they are facing concerns due to several injuries.

Steyn shared his thoughts with the broadcasters after the WTC final between Australia and South Africa at Lord’s, as reported by The Indian Express. “Every match will be tightly contested, But there will definitely be a result in each one. I expect England to win 3-2. None of the matches will be one-sided; all five will be closely fought,” he said.

The Proteas clinched the World Test Championship (WTC) final with a five-wicket victory, thanks to a magnificent century from Aiden Markram, a courageous half-century by captain Temba Bavuma, and outstanding bowling performances from Kagiso Rabada and Lungi Ngidi. Steyn commended his fellow South Africans not only for overcoming the formidable defending champions but also for maintaining remarkable consistency throughout the challenging two-year cycle of the competition.

“From the very beginning of this World Test Championship cycle, South Africa understood that they needed to win a set number of games to reach the final and they did just that, winning seven matches in a row, no matter who the opposition was. It doesn’t matter who you’re playing against, any player who’s been part of Test cricket will tell you that even winning one Test is tough. To win seven in a row, secure a place in the final, and then come out on top today that’s a massive achievement, These are two huge teams with a history of fierce rivalry. Australia commands immense respect from every South African cricketer, given their remarkable achievements, especially their World Cup titles. South Africa knew this would be one of their hardest challenges,” he said.
