Delhi: Nicholas Puran of West Indies, who is counted among the world’s best T20 batsmen, has been appointed as the captain of Mi New York for Major League Cricket (MLC) 2025. This announcement has been made a day after his retirement from his international cricket.

The 29 -year -old wicketkeeper batsman played a total of 167 international matches for the West Indies, including 106 T20I matches, the highest by any West Indies player. Not only this, the left -handed batter has also scored the most runs (2275 runs) for their country in T20I.

The Trinidad player withdrew the name for a break from the T20 series being played against England recently, as he played for Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in IPL 2025, due to which he felt very tired, but it was a great season for him.

Puran performed the best of his career in 2024, where he hit the most 170 sixes in a calendar year and scored 524 runs in IPL 2025. During this time his strike rate was 196.25, which included five half -centuries.

The left -handed explosive batsman played his last T20 international match against Bangladesh in December 2024, while in the last ODI in July 2023. He never played Test cricket for the West Indies. Now he is ready to start his new journey in MLC as captain.
