India's campaign in England shall begin on June 20 when the first of five Tests gets underway. will be leading India for the first time in the five-day format.

Once the toss happens, he will become the 37th Test captain to lead the country. It's a tour with many challenges and Gill knows combating England in their own den will not be easy. India drew the last series in 2021-22 2-2. Before that they lost three consecutive series. The last of their three Test series wins in England came in 2007.

India's main worry will be the lack of experience. Ravindra Jadeja is the most experienced player in terms of games and runs in the side. announced their retirement from Tests almost a month ago within days of each other. called time while India were touring Australia.

Gill has to depend on Jadeja, KL Rahul, Rishabh Pant and himself for the batting and Jasprit Bumrah will have to shoulder most of the bowling in the absence of Mohammed Shami. But India's biggest threat lies in the English players themselves. There are some who can cause massive damage to the stories.

England have released the squad for only the first Test so far. But it is enough to intimidate the tourists. The squad is full of players who can 'spell doom' for Gill's men. Here's a look at the five England players Team India really needs to be wary of:

1. Joe Root

Root is a run machine and against India he seems to find the extra energy to score heavily, be it at home or in their own backyard. The man has been in a rich vein of form since 2020 and is not showing any signs of stopping. If he is not sent back early, expect a big score from him and a big total from England.

2. Ben Stokes

England's captain is a player one would just love in the team. Stokes is an exceptional batter, a dangerous batter and more than reliable on the field. Add to that his instincts as a skipper. India have to ensure he fails to fire in every department if they are to have any chance of putting up a fight. Stokes in full flow is never a good sight for the bowling side.

3. Ben Duckett

Duckett loves to play against India and he will want to get off to a rollicking start. India need to keep him quiet by cutting off his run supply. That can contribute to getting him out early. Of course, it is easier said than done.

4. Harry Brook

Brook is never shy to give the ball a good bash. He can play those brisk knocks that upset the opposition's balance and plans. England can use him when going for quick runs for a declaration or just to build a big lead.

5. Chris Woakes

Woakes is lethal with the ball and he's also not an easy proposition with the bat. India will watch out for him because he is known to take wickets when the team really needs it and with the new ball is nothing short of the menace. Of course, with the bat he comes in handy when crucial runs are needed or if one side has to hold fort and provide support to one of the main batters.
