Atharva Ankolekar's Eagle Thane Strikers sealed their semi-final berth in the T20 Mumbai League 2025 after a comprehensive 36-run victory over Shreyas Iyer's SOBO Mumbai Falcons.
The triumph, their third in four matches, was headlined by standout performances from skipper Ankolekar and all-rounder Sairaj Patil.
Patil stole the show with a blistering 61 off just 37 deliveries and followed it up with a four-wicket haul, playing a pivotal role in dismantling the Falcons. Despite the setback, SOBO Mumbai Falcons progressed to the semi-finals with six points from the group stage.
Maratha Royals Secure Final Four Spot with Emphatic Win
In another fixture, MSC Maratha Royals cruised into the semi-finals after a six-wicket win over ARCS Andheri. The Royals' balanced display ensured they comfortably chased down their target and solidified their position in the knockout stage.
Tigers Edge Past Panthers in Rain-Shortened Thriller
Earlier in the day, the Aakash Tigers MWS, under Shams Mulani's leadership, edged out Prithvi Shaw's North Mumbai Panthers by 22 runs in a rain-affected contest at the Wankhede Stadium. Persistent rain forced a delayed start and reduced the game to just five overs per side.
Set a daunting target of 67, the Panthers struggled to find momentum on a pitch offering noticeable movement. With only 10 runs on the board after two overs, pressure mounted. Shaw, visibly frustrated, fell trying to force the pace, mistiming a slower delivery from Sylvester D'Souza to hand Mulani a simple catch. The Panthers' chase never recovered, ending meekly at 45/2.
Earlier, despite losing wickets at regular intervals, the Tigers posted a competitive 66/7, courtesy of handy cameos from Mulani (12) and Arjun Dani (10).
Rain Curtails Blasters-Knights Showdown
The eagerly awaited clash between Suryakumar Yadav's Bandra Blasters and Triumphs Knights MNE was abandoned due to heavy rain at the DY Patil Stadium, much to the disappointment of a large weekend crowd.
Batting first, the Blasters racked up 192/7 in 20 overs, thanks to a scintillating 69 off 37 balls by Suved Parkar. The opener thrilled the crowd with eight fours and three sixes before falling to a well-directed outswinger from Minad Manjrekar. Useful contributions from Shyamsundar Keshkamat (41) and Vikrant Auti further bolstered the total.
The Knights' chase started on a sour note with an early wicket, but before any recovery could be mounted, a torrential downpour ended proceedings abruptly, resulting in a No Result.
