Virat Kohli‘s controversial dismissal against KKR has sparked intense debate. The key question is whether the full toss by Harshit Rana that led to Kohli’s caught-and-bowled dismissal was above waist height or not. Kohli angrily protested the umpire’s decision and was fined.

The incident occurred during Royal Challengers Bengaluru‘s match against Kolkata Knight Riders.

Former Indian batter Mohammad Kaif stated that Harshit Rana should have apologized for bowling a dangerous beamer.

“Only ten ways exist to get a batter out, and now an eleventh one has been used to remove Virat Kohli. With a single ball, a bowler has 10 different ways to dismiss a batter. So in six deliveries, there are 60 possible ways to get a batter out,” Mohammad Kaif said.

“The umpire’s call to give Virat Kohli out off a beamer was not fair. Bowlers cannot fully control the trajectory of a ball that slips out of their hand. Rana should have apologized to Kohli for the beamer rather than appeal for his wicket. Calling Kohli out shows poor judgement by the umpire,” he added.

“The batter always looks down at the expected pitch location, making it impossible to prepare for such an unpredictable delivery. It was the wrong call to give Virat Kohli out,” he concluded.
