Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra has selected an uncapped Indian XI for IPL 2025. He opted for Vaibhav Suryavanshi over Ayush Mhatre as the No. 3 batter. In the IPL final on June 3, Royal Challengers Bengaluru(RCB) defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs to clinch the title. Chopra included six players from PBKS, along with one each from RCB, Mumbai Indians (MI), Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Delhi Capitals (DC) in his squad. Sharing his picks on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra,’ he chose PBKS openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya for the uncapped XI.

“I’m starting with Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya, as they took the team to the final. Priyansh has been impressive, and Prabhsimran scored over 500 runs in a season, which is a rare feat, even for someone like Rohit Sharma. At No. 3, I’m picking Vaibhav Suryavanshi – a 14-year-old who scored a hundred and continued impressing. I chose him over Ayush Mhatre,” he said.

“At No. 4, Nehal Wadhera stands out. Despite a poor final, he played consistently well and handled both spin and pace. Shashank, who played key knocks including in the final, is my captain. I also have Naman Dhir, a brilliant player who could have contributed more if batted higher up the order,” he added.

“For the all-rounders, I’ve chosen Vipraj Nigam, a phenomenal find with the potential to play for India. His leg-spin and batting skills are top-notch. Harpreet Brar, who performed well, is also in,” he mentioned.

“In terms of pacers, I’ve picked Yash Dayal, who won the final for the team, and Vijaykumar Vyshak, who impressed despite limited chances. I considered Ashwani Kumar, Arshad Khan, Prince Yadav, and Akash Singh, but Anshul Kamboj looks like a long-term prospect, so he makes the cut.”
