‘Father likes Test cricket’, Rohit Sharma’s big disclosure

Delhi: Indian cricket team veteran opener and former Test captain Rohit Sharma surprised everyone by announcing his retirement from Test cricket just before the England tour. Rohit’s decision, where his fans got emotional, his father was also disappointed with this news. On the occasion of the release of Pooja, wife of Cheteshwar Pujara’s wife Pooja in Mumbai, Rohit shared his father Gurunath Sharma’s deep feelings towards Test cricket.

38 -year -old Rohit Sharma said, “My father used to work in a transport company. Both he and my mother sacrificed a lot for our better future. But, my father has been a tremendous fan of Test cricket from the beginning. He does not like T20 and new style cricket.”

Hitman further stated that even when he scored a historic 264 runs in ODIs, his father’s reaction was very simple.

The opener said, “He just said-played well, did well. But, when I used to score 30-40 runs in the Test, he used to discuss me for hours about that innings. This shows his deep sense of Test cricket.”

However, Rohit also clarified that after a little disappointment, his father understood the decision and accepted it with happiness.

Right -handed batter said, “I have traveled from school cricket to India A. They have seen me playing with a red ball at every level, so when I retired, he was a little depressed, but was satisfied. He has played an important role in my cricket career. It was not possible without him.”

Rohit scored 12 centuries and 18 half -centuries in 52 matches in his Test career. Under his captaincy, India also reached the final of the 2023 ICC World Test Championship, even if the team could not win the title.
