The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has revealed the 16-member Bangladesh squad for Sri Lanka tests, which is set to begin on June 17.
The tour comprises two match test series, three match ODIs, and T20Is to be played across June and July. Bangladesh will be touring Sri Lanka ahead of the home tour against India in August.
The test series will mark the beginning of Bangladesh’s journey in the WTC 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle. Najmul Hossain Shanto-led team sees the return of wk-batter Litton Das, who missed the previous tour due to injury.
Meanwhile, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz will continue to be as vice captain. Ananmul Haque Bijoy who replaced Zakir Hasan for the second Test against Zimbabwe has also been retained for the Sri Lanka tests.
Nahid Rana who didn’t play second test due to PSL commitments, has joined the side for the upcoming series.
Several bowlers, Fast bowler Ebadot Hossain, who last played international cricket in July 2023 and Left-arm spinner Hasan Murad and right arm pacer Nahid Rana have been recalled as well.
“Top-order batter Najmul Hossain Shanto has been retained as Bangladesh’s Test captain for another year, continuing in the leadership role he assumed in 2024. All-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz also continues as the vice-captain, maintaining the leadership pairing that led the team in the previous season,” said BCB in a statement.
Three players, left-arm spinner Tanvir Islam, pacer Tanzim Hasan Sakib, and opener Mahmudul Hasan Joy has been dropped from the squad which previously featured against Zimbabwe at home.
The first test will be played between June 17-21 at Galle while the second test will be played between June 25 and 29 at Singalese Sports Club.
