The RCB great Virat Kohli was seen in tears during the finals of the IPL 2025 season played against Punjab Kings on June 03 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.
With RCB going on to seal the victory, the star batter was seen emotional, as the match was yet to be over. Bengaluru has ended their 17-year trophy drought securing a six-run victory in the finals.
Phil Salt and Virat Kohli opened the innings while Arshdeep Singh opened the bowling attack. With Salt aiming for an aggressive start, Kyle Jamieson bagged the wicket of the wicket-keeper for 16 runs.
With Mayank Agarwal joining Virat Kohli at the crease, RCB went on to score 55 runs in the powerplay. Chahal, who came into attack after the end of the powerplay, bagged the wicket of Mayank Agarwal for 24 runs.
Rajat Patidar who walked to bat, got dismissed by Kyle Jamieson for 26 runs. With his dismissal, RCB lost three wickets for 96 runs.
Punjab Kings went on to break the momentum bagging wickets at regular intervals. Azmatullah Omarzai went on to pick the wicket of Virat Kohli for 43 runs. With the dismissal of Liam Livingstone by Kyle Jamieson and Jitesh Sharma by Vijaykumar Vyshak RCB tatters with 6 wickets for 171 runs.
Livingstone was sent out for 25 runs while Jitesh Sharma lost his wicket for 24 runs leaving Romario Shepherd and Krunal Pandya at crease. With Romario Shepherd switched aggressive mode, Arshdeep Singh went on to bag his wicket for 17 runs.
He went on bag the wicket of Krunal Pandya for 4 runs bagging his second wicket in the innings. Arshdeep Singh completed his over by picking the wicket of Bhuvneshwar Kumar restricting Royal Challengers Bengaluru for 190 runs.
Other than Arshdeep Singh, Kyle Jamieson went on to bag three wickets while Omarzai, Vijaykumar and Yuzvendra Chahal bagged one wickets each.
In the pursuit of chasing 191 runs, Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh opened the innings while Bhuvneshwar Kumar opened the bowling attack.
Despite a solid start, Priyansh Arya’s dismissal for 24 runs has left Punjab to lose momentum. Josh Inglis joined Prabhsimran Singh to score 52 runs in the power play.
With Punjab forging a partnership, Krunal Pandya went on to bag the wicket of Prabhsimran for 26 runs. Right in the next over, Shreyas Iyer went on to lose his wicket for 1 run to Romario Shepherd, which turned the tables on the Punjab Kings.
With Josh Inglis’ dismissal for 39 runs by Krunal Pandya, Punjab Kings tatters with 4 wickets for 98 runs.
However, Nehal Wadhera and Shashank Singh went on to take rebuild innings needing 55 runs in four overs. But Nehal Wadhera got dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar for 15 runs.
Bhuvi went on to bag the wicket of Marcus Stoinis while Yash Dayal went on to dismiss Azmatullah Omarzai for 1 run.
Despite Shashank Singh’s 61 runs off 30 deliveries went in vain as RCB ultimately secured victory by 6 runs.
