Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians are set to play in the qualifier 02 of the IPL 2025 season on June 01 at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad.

However, the game has been interrupted by rain before the start of the match. Despite the chances for the washout being very slim and no reserve day for the game, Punjab Kings still have the edge to qualify for the finals.

It is due to their higher finish in the points table by the end of the league stages. Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings have booked their spot in the qualifier 01 in the IPL 2025 after a commanding win against Mumbai Indians in their final league stages.

They secured a top spot in the IPL 2025 points table with 19 points, becoming the first team this season to confirm a top-two finish – a feat they’ve achieved for the first time in 11 years.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians has finished fourth with 16 points from 14 games. Meanwhile Punjab lost the qualifier 01 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru earlier this week, while Mumbai secured a comfortable 20-run victory in the Eliminator on Friday.

The first two matches of the playoffs – PBKS vs RCB (Qualifier 1) and GT vs MI (Eliminator) were played at the Mullanpur Stadium in Mohali. Meanwhile the qualifier 02 and final of the IPL 2025 season was moved to Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

The rain has already delayed the start of the PBKS vs MI fixture and the big question remains what will happen if the game is washed out as the final is scheduled to take place just one day after qualifier 02 is expected to finish.

Punjab Kings has been impressive in the ongoing season under the head coach Ricky Ponting and captain Shreyas Iyer.

However, their defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru that has raised eyebrows. In the PBKS vs RCB clash, it seemed as if Punjab Kings never turned up for the game.
