Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill has opened up about his clash with Mumbai Indians skipper Hardik Pandya during the IPL 2025 Eliminator. MI defeated GT by 20 runs to qualify for Qualifier 2, where they will face Punjab Kings on June 1 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
The speculation started when Hardik tried to shake hands with Gill during the toss, but he was ignored by the Gujarat opening batter. Pandya went straight to Ravi Shastri for the interview without the handshake, which was followed by on-field tension.
When Trent Boult dismissed Shubman in the second innings, Hardik went past the rival leader, shouting Come on. The moment went viral on social media with claims of an ego clash between the two Indian teammates. But Gill has now reacted to the stories. He shared a two-picture collage featuring him and Hardik and wrote: “Nothing but love (Don’t believe everything you see on the internet).”
The two players were together at the Gujarat Titans for two years before the all-rounder left to rejoin the Mumbai Indians before the start of the 17th season in 2024.
GT won the title in 2022, while the franchise finished as runners-up in 2023, with Gill scoring 890 runs under Hardik’s captaincy.
While Hardik will lead Mumbai against PBKS on Sunday, Gill will start preparations for the five-match Test series against England.
