Mumbai Indians defeated Gujarat Titans by 20 runs in the eliminator match to make it to the qualifier-2. Now Mumbai Indians will face Punjab Kings, where the winning team will face Royal Challengers Bangalore in the final. In this match played in Mullanpur, Mumbai scored 228 runs while batting first. Despite Steve Smith’s excellent innings, Gujarat was able to score 208 runs.
The innings of Mumbai was a great start, in which Johnny Bairstow scored 47 runs in 22 balls and Rohit Sharma scored 81 runs. Rohit completed 7000 runs in the IPL in this match, which is a special place for his career. Suryakumar Yadav (33), Tilak Verma (25) and Hardik Pandya (22*) also scored a fast run to bring the team to a strong score. From Gujarat, Sai Kishore and famous Krishna took two wickets each.
Gujarat had a poor start and captain Shubman Gill was dismissed quickly, but Sai Sudarshan gave the team a comeback by scoring 80 runs in 49 balls. Kusal Mendis and Washington Sundar also continued the attempt by making a half -century partnership, but the Mumbai bowlers stopped Gujarat at 208/6 while bowling tightly in the death overs. Trent Bolt took 2 wickets, while Jaspreet Bumrah, Glison, Ashwani Kumar and Mitchell Santner took one wicket each.
After the match, Mumbai captain Hardik Pandya praised the team’s performance and especially Jaspreet Bumrah as a expensive bowler than the “price of the house of Mumbai”. He said that being a bowler like Bumrah is nothing short of a luxury. Hardik said that Bumrah’s bowling in the decisive moments of the match gave the team a big advantage.
Now in Qualifier-2, Mumbai Indians will face Punjab Kings, which will be played in Ahmedabad on 1 June. The winning team will take on RCB in the final. In this way, this season of Gujarat Titans ended here.
