The 21-year-old England National Cricket Team batting all-rounder Jacob Bethell has made a huge revelation from his stint in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB).

He revealed that the modern-day batting great Virat Kohli was open to offering him valuable advice during the IPL 2025, which has helped him become a better player.

Jacob Bethell helps England demolish the West Indies

The Harry Brook era in English cricket started off on a dominant note. England played their first match under Harry Brook as the full-time captain against the West Indies in Birmingham and registered a stunning 238-run victory.

In all three departments - batting, bowling, and fielding - the Three Lions outclassed the opposition and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match ODI series.

England got the opportunity to bat first in the match, and all the batters came out all guns blazing. The top seven batters scored 30+ in the same ODI innings, which was the first such instance in the history of cricket.

Jacob Bethell was the leading run-getter in the innings, with 82 runs under his belt in 53 balls, and his innings consisted of 8 fours and 5 sixes.

He was awarded the Player of the Match for his all-round heroics as he also bagged one wicket.

Virat Kohli was great with the information and how he goes about his batting - Jacob Bethell

Speaking after the match, Jacob Bethell credited his stint with Royal Challengers Bengaluru for turning him into a better player. Notably, he played two matches for RCB as a replacement for Phil Salt, who missed matches due to sickness and returned with scores of 12 and 55.

However, he didn't complete his campaign with RCB and had to return to England for national duty.

He was replaced by Tim Seifert in the RCB squad for the playoffs.

Meanwhile, Jacob Bethell said that he just had to ask Virat Kohli about certain things, and the batting legend was open to sharing the advice.

"I really found that experience very beneficial for my game. I feel like I am a better player now than I was two months before I went to India. Virat Kohli was great with the information and how he goes about his batting," Bethell told Sky Sports Cricket.

"All I had to do was ask, and he was great with that stuff. Obviously, being a part of that tournament was really special.

There is a lot of noise around it so it was great to be a part of it," he added.

He was happy to share lots of advice with me - Jacob Bethell

Jacob Bethell added that Virat Kohli was more than happy to share his experience with him. The 21-year-old also revealed that he felt that energy and intensity while batting with Kohli in a couple of games.

"I was always going to be in the IPL after I signed that contract. I watched the boys do well from afar and really enjoyed it."

"Virat was great. He was happy to share lots of advice with me and Andy Flower was a great coach, too.

I felt the energy when I went out to bat with Virat and that is something I will take into my game, that intensity," he added.
