Rajasthan Royals defeated Mumbai Indians by 9 wickets in the Indian Premier League 2024. The same team thumped MI in the first fixture between the two rivals. Rajasthan completed a rare double over of the five-time champions. Sandeep Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal were the top performers for the hosts. Sandeep took 5 wickets and was named the Player of the Match.
On the other hand, Jaiswal hit a hundred to complete the chase of 180 runs. He was unbeaten on 104 runs off 60 balls, laced with 9 fours and 7 sixes.
The southpaw was under pressure after failing in seven consecutive matches. His spot in the Indian team for the ICC World Cup 2024 was under threat but the 22-year-old hit a century a few days before the announcement of the squad. Former India player Sanjay Manjrekar heaped massive praise on the opening batter.
“Yashasvi Jaiswal! This is how exceptional players come back into form,” Manjrekar wrote on X.
Yashasvi is likely to open with Rohit Sharma in the mega tournament. Earlier, former India players Irfan Pathan and Varun Aaron picked Jaiswal in the Men in Blue team.
The left-handed batter played his last international series against England. He scored over 700 runs, with two double hundreds.
