In the last league match of IPL 2025 played at Ekana Cricket Stadium in Lucknow, of course, Lucknow Super Giants suffered defeat, but during this high-entity match, Rishabh Pant did something so that he made crores of fans crazy. Pant withdrew the appeal of a run-out against Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Stand-in Captain Jitesh Sharma and not only won the heart of RCB fans but also lazed the game spirit.
In the 17th over of RCB, chasing a target of 228 runs, LSG spinner Digvesh Singh Rathi stopped at his delivery stride and dropped the bails at non-strayer &. At that time Jitesh Sharma was out of the crease and he immediately appealed as soon as he dropped the bails. The on-field umpire confirmed Rathi whether he wanted to move forward with an appeal and the decision was sent to the TV umpire.
After reviewing the footage, the TV umpire termed Jitesh as a not out and said that before trying the run-out, Rathi had completed his delivery stride, thus getting out under the rules of the game became invalid. As soon as the umpire’s “out” signal was waiting in the stadium, “Not Out” appeared on the big screen. Then Rishabh Pant also withdrew the appeal. Although claiming to be dismissed was in his authority, he chose the path of sportsmanship instead of profit.
This decision shocked the audience and after this decision of Pant, Jitesh went ahead and embraced Pant. According to MCC Rules 38.3.1.2, “Even if the non-strayer has left his ground before the moment, when the bowler is expected to leave the ball normally, once the bowler reaches that point, it is not possible for the bowler to run out a non-strayer under this rule.”
