Rishabh Pant’s Knock Propels Lucknow to 227/3 Against Bengaluru

After a stellar knock from Rishabh Pant, Lucknow Super Giants set a 228 target for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the IPL 2025 game played on May 27 at the Ekana Cricket Stadium.

He remained unbeaten, helping the side to post 227 runs in the game against Bengaluru on Tuesday’s clash.

Batting first, Mitchell Marsh and Matthew Breetzke opened the innings while Nuwan Thusara opened the bowling attack.

Thushara brought the first breakthrough, dismissing Breetzke for 14 runs. With Marsh and Pant at the crease, Lucknow went on to score 55 runs in the powerplay.

Mitchell Marsh put up a solid knock, scoring 67 runs off 37 deliveries before being dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Marsh and Pant made a 152-run partnership for the second wicket.

With Lucknow aiming for a massive total, Rishabh Pant went on to score 100 runs off 54 deliveries which included 10 fours and 6 sixes.

With the dismissal of Pooran for 13 runs by Romario Shepherd, Pant remained unbeaten 118 runs off 61 deliveries and helped the side to post 227 runs for three wickets in the 20 over innings.

Speaking at the toss, Jitesh Sharma said, “We will field first. Looks like a good wicket, we’ll fancy to chase. Rajat Patidar is our impact player. Looking to win and make it into the top-2.”

“Tim David misses out, Liam comes in, so does Thushara, he replaces Ngidi who left the team,” concluded Jitesh Sharma.

On the other hand, Rishabh Pant said, “We don’t mind batting or bowling first, we did show the glimpse of the potential in our last game, but every match is a learning curve, till the last ball is bowled, we will give our 100 percent. Few changes – Breetzke is in and Digvesh Rathi are back in.”
