Former India cricketer turned commentator Robin Uthappa has highlighted Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) flaw as they head into the playoffs.
RCB have a golden chance to finish in the top two on the points table as they take on Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in their last league fixture. The three-time runners-up last finished in the top two back in 2016 and will look to make the most of the opportunity at hand to emulate their feat.
However, ahead of the playoffs, Uthappa has highlighted RCB's flaws, mentioning their inability to close out the games. He also predicted the Rajat Patidar-led side to make it to the final of the tournament alongside the Punjab Kings (PBKS).
"I've said it from the beginning, I believe it's going to be Punjab and RCB. They've got momentum on their side and have started bowling well. They need to close out games effectively, and Virat Kohli has to be the chase master we know he is - batting through the 20 overs. When he does that, it builds pressure on the opposition, especially in the death overs," Uthappa said on JioHotstar.
Furthermore, he also called the a major boost for the side and said that their bowlers need to step up.
"The bowlers also need to step up. I'm glad Josh Hazlewood is back, which will help Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) too. Yash Dayal has been decent at the death overs. Suyash faltered in the last game, but if he returns to being disciplined, like he was at the start of the IPL, he'll be effective again. And Krunal Pandya has also been bowling well," he added.
RCB are placed third on the points table with eight wins from 13 matches, having 17 points to their name. They can finish in the top two by beating LSG in their last encounter in Lucknow. Hence, the Rajat Patidar-led side will be eager to bring their A game to the fore to get two chances to qualify for the final of the tournament.
