The Mumbai Indians batters Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya are aiming to post a solid total during the IPL 2025 game against Punjab Kings on May 26 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Mumbai.
After losing four wickets, the duo are forging a partnership during the high thriller clash.
Since both sides have qualified for the playoffs, this game will be a contest for securing the top two spots in the IPL 2025 points table. PBKS are ahead of Mumbai in the table with a superior points tally.
Batting first, Ryan Rickelton and Rohit Sharma opened the innings while Arshdeep Singh opened the bowling attack.
The Mumbai duo went on to play a decent knock of 45 for the first wicket as Rickelton lost his wicket to Marco Jansen for 27 runs.With Suryakumar Yadav joining Rohit Sharma, they went on to score 52 runs in the powerplay.
After Tilak Varma lost his wicket for 1 run, Will Jacks lost his wicket to Vyshak Vijaykumar for 17 runs leaving Mumbai losing four wickets for 106 runs.
Speaking at the toss, Shreyas Iyer said, “We are going to bowl first. I let the action talk more than words.
I would just give them some sort of motivation and it is then their job to go and execute.”“Jamieson and Vyshak come in. It (the venue) is preferably suitable for both sides because of the conditions; wind factor and size of the ground.”
“No you can’t just take it as just another day, you have to keep upgrading your game and mindset, I am someone who thrives under pressure, you have to put your best foot forward and at the same time there is no scope for errors,” concluded Shreyas Iyer.
Meanwhile, MI captain Hardik Pandya said, “Looks like a good track, let’s see. It is a good toss to lose; we were not sure what to do.
We didn’t mind either batting or bowling. We will put some runs and defend it.”“For us to be in this situation lot of results had to go our way, five days back we were not in this position and today we are, but being honest last 8-9 games have been like knockouts for us. Just one change – Ashwani Kumar comes in,” concluded Hardik Pandya.
