In a high-voltage encounter at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) produced a commanding all-round performance to register a thumping 83-run victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) in Match 67 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. After electing to bat first, CSK’s explosive batting line-up fired on all cylinders to post a mammoth 230/5 in 20 overs. Gujarat Titans, in response, faltered under pressure and were bundled out for just 147 in 18.3 overs.
Chennai’s innings was set alight by their young opener Ayush mhatrewho smashed 34 off 17 deliveries to provide a brisk start. Devon Conway anchored the innings with a fluent 52 off 35 balls, hitting six boundaries and two sixes. Urvil Patel and Shivam Dube played useful cameos, but it was South African sensation Dewald Brevis who stole the show with a blistering knock of 57 off just 23 balls, including four fours and five massive sixes. His fireworks in the death overs took Chennai well past the 200-run mark.
Gujarat’s bowling was erratic and lacked discipline. While Prasidh Krishna stood out with 2/22 in his four overs, the rest of the attack leaked runs heavily. Mohammed Siraj and Arshad khan were particularly expensive, conceding 47 and 42 runs respectively without taking a wicket.
Chasing a daunting target of 231, Gujarat Titans never found momentum. The top-order crumbled under pressure as Jos Buttler, Sherfane Rutherfordand skipper Shubman Gill fell cheaply. Only Sai Sudharsan showed some resistance with a composed 41 off 28 balls. Contributions from the lower order — including 20 from Arshad and 19 from Shahrukh khan — came too little, too late.
CSK’s bowlers were relentless, with Noor Ahmad and debutant Anshul kamboj wreaking havoc. Noor returned brilliant figures of 3/21 in his full quota, while Kamboj impressed with 3/13 in just 2.3 overs. Jadeja’s 2/17 further tightened the noose as GT crumbled under scoreboard pressure.
