Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) batter Heinrich Klaasen scripted history on Sunday night (May 25) as he smashed the joint third fastest hundred in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

South African Klaasen, who was promoted to number 3, took just 37 balls to score his hundred against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in an IPL 2025 contest in New Delhi.
Klaasen remained unbeaten on 105 off 39 balls with seven fours and nine sixes as SRH posted a mammoth 278/3 in 20 overs, the third-highest team total in the history of IPL.
The record for the fastest hundred in the IPL belongs to Chris Gayle, who achieved the feat in just 30 balls in 2013, playing for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) against Pune Warriors India (PWI).
Speaking about his sensational knock, Klaasen said, “Very pleased, it’s been a long season of disappointment. Luckily, I stuck to my processes and found my form now. The franchise spent a lot of time and money to play this brand of cricket, and it was up to us to step up to the mantle.”
On the pitch, he said, “I tried to hit every ball for six, there was a spell from (Sunil) Narine where it was quite difficult, but I tried to improvise. The hard lengths are a bit tougher to play.
On batting at number 3, he said, “I am a situation player, that’s the idea in the dugout. If we lose a wicket after the powerplay or just at the end of the powerplay, then I just go in. If we lose a wicket earlier, then it doesn’t quite work out. For me, it’s just a number; it all depends on the team situation.”
