Ajit agarkar opens up on sarfaraz khan: On 7 May, Rohit Sharma announced his retirement from red ball cricket. After which the question arose in the minds of all the fans as to who would be the next captain of red ball cricket. On May 24, the question was answered by the chief selector of Indian men’s cricket team Ajit Agarkar and BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia at the press conference. Along with this, an 18 -member Team India was also announced for the Indian team’s tour of England in the month of June.
The Men Selection Committee has announced an 18 -member Indian team for the upcoming five -match Test series to be played in England. For this, young batsman Shubman Gill has been appointed as the new captain. At the same time, wicketkeeper batsman Rishabh Pant has been given the important responsibility of vice -captain. The team has returned to Karun Nair and Shardul Thakur, while Sai Sudarshan and Abhimanyu Ishwaran have been included in the team for red-ball cricket for the first time.
However, Sarfaraz Khan, Shreyas Iyer and experienced fast bowler Mohammed Shami have been excluded from this team. Now the chief selector Ajit Agarkar has openly replied why Sarfaraz Khan did not get a place in the England tour.
The prominent names excluded from the team include the name of Mumbai batsman Sarfaraz Khan. Sarfaraz made his Test debut last year and scored a century in the first Test. According to reports, Sarfaraz Khan also did a lot of work on his fitness and lost 10 kg in 6 weeks. Despite this, he did not get a place in the team.
When Sarfaraz Khan is not included in the team, Ajit Agarkar said, “Sometimes you just have to take good decisions. Sarfaraz, I know that he had scored 100 runs in the first Test and then did not score runs. Sometimes these team management decisions are made.”
