But what are the reasons for so many runs in this year's IPL? We will try to find out here.

The impact player rule gives one more batsman

BCCI introduced impact player rule in IPL 2023. But its maximum effect is seen in this year i.e. 2024. This means that if a team is batting first, they field with 7 main batsmen (excluding all-rounders), as when it comes to bowling, a batsman can be removed and replaced by the 5th bowler, as per the Impact Player rule.

This has added a lot of depth to the batting of the teams. When there are 7-8 full-time batsmen in the team. Everyone can play the game freely. Many teams including SRH, KKR are taking advantage of this rule and scoring more than 200 runs continuously.

Aggressive batting and short boundaries

In IPL 2024, especially Sunrisers Hyderabad, Rajasthan Royals, Kolkata Knight Riders have set an example of batting aggression on several occasions. At the same time, the boundary line of many grounds is 60 meters. This is why KKR and SRH have scored more than 200 runs in an innings 4 times each so far this season.

Veteran cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has also raised his voice that the boundaries should be extended to give the bowlers an advantage in the IPL. Due to these reasons, world-class bowlers like Mohammad Siraj, Enrique Norkhia and Mitchell Starc are also getting washed out. This bowler is scoring runs at an economy rate of over 10 in matches.

Less experience and lack of diversity in bowling

In any IPL match, every team tries to play with its best playing eleven. But the playing eleven also includes players who are playing their debut season of IPL or have little experience.
