The BCCI will announce Team India’s squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the last week of April. Several players will be selected unopposed because of their performances in the previous year. The wicket-keeping slot and the place of the spinners are still being debated. Yuzvendra Chahal is the best Indian spinner in T20 cricket. He has taken 199 wickets in the Indian Premier League, the highest by any bowler.

However, he doesn’t feature in the selectors’ plans and the BCCI didn’t offer him a central contract. The regular snubs haven’t impacted him, as he is once again among the top wicket-takers in IPL 2024. Yuzi is one of the front-runners to represent India in the T20 World Cup.

However, Irfan Pathan doesn’t see him playing in the Playing XI, as Kuldeep Yadav is a better bowler. “Yuzvendra Chahal is a legend in IPL, and no one is even near him. However, he is behind Kuldeep Yadav in international cricket. Kuldeep has been phenomenal in the last one year. Even if Chahal is there in the 15-man sqauad, I don’y see him playing,” Irfan Pathan said.

Navjot Singh Sidhu said Yuzvendra Chahal will not travel with the Men in Blue. ‘He will not be picked. You can’t hide your poor feeding in T20 cricket. Yuzvendra is 33 and there are many young bowlers than him. Ravi Bishnoi is 23 and can also bat. Kuldeep is younger than him. You have others as well. The selectors will not go with him,’ he said.
