Delhi: Punjab Kings (PBKS) bowling coach James Hops has supported the inclusion of Arshdeep Singh and Shreyas Iyer in the Indian team for the Test series against England. Team India will visit England for the five -match Test series starting on June 20. After the retirement of legendary batsmen like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli, many places have become vacant in the Test team.
In such a situation, James believes that Arshdeep and Shreyas should get a chance in the team. Hops said that Arshdeep’s ability to swing on both sides makes him ideal for English conditions. In the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, Arshdeep has taken 16 wickets in 11 innings so far.
Talking to the Times of India, Hops said, “I think Arshdeep is perfectly suitable for English conditions. He can swing the ball on both sides, even reverse swing if needed. He can bowl round the wicket as left arm semen and take out the ball against the right -handed batsman.”
In addition, Hops said that Shreyas Iyer is ready to return to Test cricket and should be included in the Indian team for the England series.
Former Australian veteran all -rounder said, “Shreyas is ready to return to Test cricket. I think he has worked hard on his batting in the last 12 months. He uses his hands very beautifully, which can be very important while playing in England. Yes, I think both of them should be considered seriously in the team.”
In IPL 2025, Shreyas Iyer has so far scored an average of 48.33 in 12 innings and 435 runs at a strike rate of 174.69, including four half -centuries.
