Vikram Rathour has stated that the upcoming tour of England will pose significant challenges for the Indian team, particularly following the retirement of Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. The Indian cricket team is set to face England in a highly anticipated five-match Test series, commencing on June 20 at Headingley, Leeds.
Rathour has expressed confidence in Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel, highlighting their strong temperament and technical ability. In IPL 2025, Jaiswal was in exceptional form, accumulating 559 runs in 14 innings. Meanwhile, Jurel contributed 333 runs from 13 innings.
“Both Yashasvi Jaiswal and Dhruv Jurel are incredibly talented players with immense potential. Jaiswal has already proven himself in international cricket with some remarkable innings. Dhruv has good temperament and solid technique as a batter. I believe both will perform well,” Rathour said.
Rathour also acknowledged the difficulties posed by the absence of senior players, particularly with a new captain taking charge. However, he emphasised that this tour offers an excellent chance for the emerging players to prove their capabilities.
“This tour is going to be challenging. With senior players retiring, the young team will be under pressure. At the same time, it’s a great opportunity for the players to showcase their talent and skills.”
The announcement of the new India Test captain and squad for the tour of England is expected to take place on Saturday, May 24.
