New Delhi: Former BCCI president reckoned that Virat Kohli should open with Rohit Sharma in the upcoming T20 World Cup which is scheduled to start from June and played in USA and West Indies. BCCI have not yet announced the squad for the marquee event and the cricket board will reportedly announce the squad in the last week of April.

Ganguly is currently involved in the Indian Premier League as he is the director of cricket for Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals.

“Both Rohit Sharma and Viral Kohli will definitely go to West Indies and USA. Its a call for selectors whom they will open with but if you ask me personally both Rohit and Virat should open for India in the T20 World Cup,” Ganguly said during Delhi Capitals media day on Monday.

Both Rohit and Virat are currently involved in IPL and playing as an opener for MI and RCB respectively. Kohli is currently the highest run-getter of the tournament scoring 379 runs in his eight outings. On the other hand Rohit jas scored 297 runs and currently on fifth in the points table tally.

Rohit Sharma is reportedly expected to meet Ajit Agarkar-led selection panel after the DC vs MI IPL 2024 match on April 27 and India’s T20 World Cup squad can be announced soon after. The International Cricket Council (ICC) has set May 1 as the final deadline for the announcement for the squad.
