Royal Challengers Bengaluru have roped in a replacement for Lungi Ngidi for the remainder of the IPL 2025 season.
The South African pacer is set to leave them after the group stages, which means they will not get Ngidi's services during the playoffs.
As RCB's playoff status was confirmed on Sunday (May 18), the franchise has now acquired a new overseas player as Ngidi's replacement.
RCB sign Blessing Muzarabani
Royal Challengers Bengaluru have gone on to bring in Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani as Lungi Ngidi's replacement. Muzarabani has joined RCB at a price of Rs 75 lakh and will be with the team for the remainder of the season, particularly in the playoffs.
RCB's decision to incorporate Muzarabani is a calculated effort to maintain a formidable pace attack in Ngidi's absence. His ability to generate bounce and maintain tight lines makes him a valuable asset, especially on pitches that favor seam bowling. Standing at an imposing 6 feet 8 inches, Muzarabani is renowned for his right-arm fast-medium bowling, characterized by steep bounce and disciplined line and length.
His prior experience as a net bowler for Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2022 provides him with familiarity with the league's demands.
Notably, during the 2025 International League T20, Muzarabani represented the Gulf Giants, securing 16 wickets in 10 matches. He has also represented Zimbabwe in 70 T20Is, claiming 78 wickets in them.
Blessing Muzarabani First Zimbabwean for RCB
Muzarabani has become the first-ever Zimbabwe player to sign for RCB. Apart from that, he is also the first bowler from the African country who has been picked for an IPL team since Ray Price in 2011, who was signed by Mumbai Indians.
The 28-year-old is just the 5th cricketer from Zimbabwe to be picked by an IPL team, and the others are-Tatenda Taibu (KKR, 2008)
Ray Price (MI, 2011)
Brendan Taylor (SRH, 2014)
