Mumbai is likely to host at least one of the four Playoffs matches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, with Ahmedabad set to stage the big final on June 3.
Sportstar understands that the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) officials have been sounded off by the Board of Control for Cricket in India “to be ready for at least one, possibly the first two” Playoffs matches.
The original fixtures of the IPL 2025 had followed the convention of awarding the final and the Qualifier 2 to the defending champion while the Qualifier 1 and Eliminator to the losing finalist. As a result, Hyderabad and Kolkata were announced as the venues for the IPL Playoffs.
However, in the aftermath of the IPL’s week-long suspension, the revised schedule has been announced for the league matches but the Playoffs venues are yet to be allotted. Considering the weather forecast and logistics, Mumbai and Ahmedabad are front-runners to host the IPL Playoffs.
The Playoffs will begin on May 29, with the final to be played on June 3.
