The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is not making Sarfaraz Khan a part of the India A team for the England tour. According to the Indian Express report, even though the official announcement of Bharat A Squad has not been made yet, it is almost certain that Surfaraz will leave England directly with the senior Test team of India. After making a Test debut in February 2024, Sarfraz has played six Test matches for India, under all domestic conditions.

Sarfaraz Khan did not get a chance again:

Sarfaraz Khan has yet been seen as expert batsmen in limitedly subcontinent conditions. He was not sent with India A even before the tour of Australia, but he was directly included in the main Test team. The BCCI is going to adopt the same strategy for the tour of England. Sarfaraz Khan will go to England with the senior team after the end of IPL 2025.

The first batch of India A team will be first

The first group of India A team which includes players like Ishaan Kishan and Yashasvi Jaiswal – will play the first unofficial Test against England Lions at the Spitfire Ground in Cantorbury from May 30 to June 2. The main Indian team, which will also have Surfaraz, will leave England in the first week of June and play an intra-voice practice match in Benkenham. Meanwhile, they will not be able to play the second practice match in Northhampton between 6-9 June.

Paddikkal and Patidar’s injury stopped the way

The two prominent names in India A team will be absent are Devdutt Paddikkal and Silver Patidar. Both recently made a debut in Test cricket for India. Paddikkal was excluded before IPL 2025 due to hamstring injury, while Patidar is suffering from a finger injury. According to reports, the Patidar will now be available only as an impact substitute for Royal Challengers Bangalore.
