Borussia Dortmund's Dutch forward Donyell Malen has spoken out about his dream to rejoin the top flight of the Premier League with his boyhood side Arsenal.

The forward, who has been a key player for the Bundesliga giants with his goal-scoring prowess, has a contract with the club till June 30, 2026. The 25-year-old recently shared his dream to make a return to England, after leaving the Gunners back in 2017 to join PSV Eindhoven. Malen left the then Arsene Wenger-managed Gunners without making a single first-team appearance and mainly featured in the side's youth team. This marks an unfinished desire for the Dutchman to compete in one of the biggest football leagues in the world. "I think, because I played in England as a youth, it is a dream to play in the Premier League. I think that is a beautiful dream," Malen said in an interview with Voetbalzone. Speaking about the potential return to Arsenal, Malen reflected upon what went wrong during his time at the North London side. "Yes, I was training with the first team, and I was 17, 18 at the time and I did make steps in the right direction, but I thought I had to just play professional football. I also saw my teammates playing professional football while I was still playing youth football and I knew [leaving] was the right thing to do," Malen added. On the other hand, Arsenal have been actively searching for a striker in the market since the last transfer window. This pursuit stems from the frequent absence of their big-name striker, Gabriel Jesus, due to injuries, and the underperformance of Edward Nketiah in front of the goal.
