IPL 2025: Tournament starts again after ceasefire, the remaining matches will be from May 17

The Indian Premier League 2025, which was postponed after the ceasefire announcement between India and Pakistan, is ready to return to the ground once again. The BCCI has confirmed that the IPL 2025 will be resumed from May 17.

Now a total of 17 matches are yet to be played in the tournament, including 13 league matches, three playoffs and one final. The BCCI is also constantly communicating with all franchises, state associations and broadcasting partners to operate the return of the tournament smoothly.

Return of foreign players became a challenge

The biggest challenge before the teams before the IPL starts is to bring back its foreign players. Many of these players have returned to their countries before the ceasefire. According to reports, Cricket Australia has indicated that they can allow their players to stay out of the season, so that they can avoid any kind of contract dispute.

Points table status

There is still a contest in the playoff race. According to the current points table:

  • Gujarat Titans topped with 16 points and net run rates of +0.793.
  • Royal Challengers Bangalore also have 16 points, but their NRR is +0.482, making them second.
  • Punjab Kings are in third place with 15 points.
  • Mumbai Indians remain at the fourth position with 14 points.

Chennai Super Kings, Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals are out of the playoffs, while the rest of the teams will continue to compete to make it to the final four. This phase of IPL 2025 is expected to prove to be full of thrill and enthusiasm for the audience once again.
