Delhi Capitals Signs Mustafizur Rahman as Replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk

The Delhi Capitals announced their signing of Mustafizur Rahman as a replacement for Jake Fraser-McGurk, who has withdrawn from the IPL 2025, which will resume this Saturday.

The franchise has revealed that the Australian cricketer has opted to leave the tournament due to personal reasons.

Fraser McGurk joined Delhi Capitals at the IPL 2025 mega auction for INR 9 crore, had flown back to Australia when the IPL was suspended for a week as the India Pakistan conflict escalated.

The game between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was called off at the HPCA stadium in Dharamsala due to a blackout in the city. The match will be played on May 24 in Jaipur.

Delhi’s first match after the resumption of the league will be against Gujarat Titans on May 18.

After the called off game at Dharamsala, the IPL was suspended for a week due to border tension between India and Pakistan.

When both nations agreed to a ceasefire, the BCCI decided to resume the league from saturday. Delhi Capitals who are in the playoff race, are waiting on a overseas player to return.

Mustafizur Rahman has so far played 57 IPL matches and has 61 wickets against his name. He has played 106 T20Is for Bangladesh picking up 132 wickets from the same. The left-arm medium pacer will join DC for INR 6 crore.

Mustafizur Rahman who made his IPL debut in 2016, previously represented the Delhi Capitals during the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

In 2022, he picked up eight wickets in eight matches with an econonmy of 7.62 and in the following season, he played two matches for Delhi Capitals. Mustafizur has also turned out for multiple franchises in the league, forming a reputation of bowling effectively in all phases of an innings.

With 132 wickets in 106 T20Is for Bangladesh, Mustafizur has established himself as one of the leading left-arm pacers in the white-ball cricket. Across all T20 competitions in the domestic circuit and globally, he has taken 351 wickets in 281 matches.
